What flattening locks

• Text fields — typed values become permanent printed text
• Checkboxes — checked state is locked in
• Dropdowns — selected option becomes static text
• Radio buttons — selected button becomes a marked circle
• Digital signatures — appearance is preserved but signature is no longer validatable

When to use this

• Sending a signed contract — recipient can't change your signed values
• Submitting tax / legal forms — locks the answers
• Form looks broken in recipient's PDF viewer — flattening fixes rendering
• Need to print + the printer ignores form fields — flatten first
