How does PDF to JPG conversion work?

PDF is a vector + raster format. To convert it into JPG or PNG, every page is rendered onto a canvas at the resolution you choose, then exported as an image file. This tool uses Mozilla's pdf.js entirely client-side — your PDF never touches a server, so confidential contracts, internal reports and scanned documents are safe to convert here.

JPG vs PNG: which should you choose?

• JPG — smaller files, lossy compression, ideal for PDFs that are mostly photos or have lots of color gradients. Adjust the quality slider for size vs fidelity.
• PNG — lossless, larger files, supports transparency. Best for PDFs with text, line art, screenshots or diagrams where edges need to stay crisp.

What DPI should I pick?

• 72 DPI — fast, small files. Use for thumbnails or web previews.
• 144 DPI (default) — retina/HiDPI sharp on screens, reasonable file size.
• 300 DPI — print-quality. Slow on big PDFs but the result is sharp enough to physically print.
