2200 characters maximum. Only the first ~125 characters show before the "more" cutoff — the Caption Counter shows you exactly where that falls.
Instagram's bio editor strips standard line breaks. The Bio Formatter inserts invisible characters that Instagram's renderer treats as line breaks correctly.
